Security Advice

Buying or selling a vehicle is a large transaction, and most of the trouble people run into can be avoided by slowing down at the right moments. This page collects what we ask everyone using Ashco Direct to keep in mind.

See the vehicle in person before any money changes hands. Meet at the seller's business address or somewhere public and busy, in daylight, and take somebody with you if you can. A seller who will not let you view the vehicle before paying is telling you something.

Check that the documents match the vehicle. The logbook, the chassis and engine numbers, and the seller's own identification should all agree with each other and with what you are looking at. Photograph them and take your time.

Be careful with payment. Do not send a deposit to hold a vehicle you have not seen, and be wary of anyone pushing you to pay quickly or to move the conversation off the platform. Ashco Direct does not handle vehicle payments, so nobody from Ashco will ever ask you to send money to us.

Keep the conversation on the platform. Messages sent through Ashco Direct give us something to look at if a dispute comes up later. Once a conversation moves to another app, we cannot see any of it.

If something feels wrong, tell us. Report the listing or contact us directly, and we will look into it.
